Meet Author Charlotte L. R. Kane - An Interview

Today we welcome Charlotte L. R. Kane, author of the books Tea Time Tales and Whisper.

Tell us a bit about your books.

Both of my books are a collection of short stories. The first, Whisper, is a collection of stories that are between 1000-5000 words and are based around the theme of hurt, love and romance. It shows the darker side of love. My second, Tea Time Tales, is a collection of stories that are less than 250 words and are based around a variety of themes, and there are some poems thrown in. I am currently working on a short thriller story, a vampire novel and a crime novel.

What inspires you to write and are your characters based on anyone you know?

Many things inspire me. TV shows, phrases and general things that go on in my life. One of the stories that I have started many years ago is based on my house mates but I am not sure if I will finish that, let alone publish it. Plus my friends help me along the journey.

How did you come up with the idea?

The same as above – TV, quotes and everyday life.

What hardships have you had to face since you started your writing journey?

Marketing and promotion is the hardest thing I have had to face. Due to the enormous amount of people of publish getting your book out there and making people want to read yours is difficult. But I use twitter and facebook to help with this and I run my own blog to try and increase my presence.

How do you get through writer’s block?

I hate it. I hate it more than anything. I went through a period of about 6 months where I could not think of anything, not even a name. I just leave it. I do not force myself to write otherwise it just doesn't work. If I have another idea I work on that and just write down words or ideas I get and try and incorporate those into the story.

How did you know you wanted to be an author?

I never did. I have written fanfiction over the years and did try and branch out and write a few things but it never occurred to me. But the opportunity arose so I took it.

Any information on upcoming books?

I am currently working on a short thriller story, a vampire novel and a crime novel but check out my blog for more information.

Anything you want to say about people who wish to get their work published?

Just do it – don't let people deter you from your goal. If you want to write, then write.
